A gift from God
Today I received a gift from God. In a pretty casual and awesome way.
I was cutting my grass due to the effects of hurricane Harvey and thought to myself,
“Might as well cut the the neighbor’s part of the yard.”
It was only a 3 foot span so I knocked it out and finished up in the front. As I was half way through the back side of our house I thought to myself:
“An ice cold beer would be great right about now Lord.”
Not even 2 minutes later I see a hand waving over my fence. My neighbor, the yard next me, was waving me down. The first thought I had was “Dang, what did I do wrong?”
I turned off the mower and headed towards the fence. He said:
“Aw thanks man, here’s a tall boy.”
It wasn’t even 4 feet past the fence line! It was such a small thing to me, but to the neighbor, it was an action worthy of an ice cold beer. Jesus said it best in Matthew 5:43-45 NLT:
“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.”
Then my best friend decided to drop in and helped me clean up around the house. I’m not sure what I did to deserve the great fortunes I received today but I can’t complain about them coming to me.
Have you ever been blessed with a day like I had today? Or been blessed for doing something for your neighbors? Let us know in the comments below.
Y’all have a blessed one!
